ISLAMABAD: Chief Census Commissioner Dr Naeem-uz-Zafar said on Monday that the citizens’ complaints regarding non-coverage would be redressed and entertained at the Census Support Center and the PBS Call Centers (0800-57574) by 30 May.

In a news conference, he announced the successful completion of Pakistan’s first-ever Digital Population and Housing Census and said that it was closed on 15 May 2023; however, the tablet access remained open for some districts till 22 May for verification of leftover areas to ensure full coverage.

Dr Naeem-uz-Zafar said that data verification would be continued using a modern technique called Computer Assisted Telephonic Interview, and citizens are urged to extend cooperation with census teams to verify their data.

He said the census field operation, which commenced on 1 March 2023, continued without any major technical glitches and interruptions.

Successful conclusion of census

He further said that the successful conclusion of the digital census fieldwork is a moment of great pride for the country as it is the largest South Asian digital census of its kind.

The Chief Census Commissioner added that the digital system also smoothly functioned in the field operation, and the overall progress was very satisfactory and encouraging.

He said retrieval of tablets from the staff would start on 24 May after the synchronization of the remaining data.

Dr Naeem said a National Database and Registration Authority team at the CSC would ensure full synchronization of data before receiving tablets from the staff, and the authority would provide certificates for data synchronization from tablets to the database.
