Comprehensive Plan Prepared for Revival of Cultural & Literary Heritage: Jamal Shah

ISLAMABAD: The National Heritage & Culture Division (NH&CD) has devised a comprehensive plan to revive the national culture and literary heritage in the country.

This was decided in a high-level meeting chaired by Caretaker Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Jamal Shah here at the Division building on Friday. Other officials in the meeting included Joint Secretaries, Secretaries and Heads of all attached departments, including the Pakistan Academy of Letters, National Language Promotion Department, Quaid-i-Azam Academy, Pakistan National Council of the Arts, Lok Virsa, Iqbal Academy Pakistan, National Library of Pakistan, Quaid Mazar Management Board, Urdu Dictionary Board, National Academy of Performing Arts and National Library of Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the federal minister Jamal Shah said that as per the revival plan, mentorship programs would be planned to connect the young lot with senior artists and mentors to preserve and promote cultural heritage.

He directed all the concerned departments to make arrangements for having an annual calendar of youth-focused leadership programs and cultural events, including youth festivals, talent hunts, artist camps, film festivals, music concerts, exhibitions, youth leadership conferences, theatres, etc. He emphasized consistent supervision and coordination with the concerned departments to enhance the impact on youth. Talent hunt shows would be commenced in collaboration with PTV and PBC, the minister added.

The minister informed that the Heritage & Culture Division, in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, PNCA and PBC, would establish a National Music Academy.

Revival Plan to Focus on Youth

Jamal Shah expressed that to inculcate aesthetics among the young Madaris students; calligraphy courses would be initiated in Madaris.

The minister said that excellence awards and prizes would be given to the young lot to promote and encourage the youth in the country. He also proposed establishing a heritage channel for the promotion of cultural and literary heritage.

The meeting also discussed a three-day National level conference on cultural education and literature with a special focus on children and youth of the country, which would be organized in the near future.

The meeting also discussed the revival of cultural infrastructure in the federal capital with a focus on creating employment opportunities for artists in all fields. It was also decided to further promote and develop the listed Archaeological sites to attract foreign investment to realize the true potential of these cultural resources as vehicles of national integration, peace and prosperity for the country.
