TANK: A policeman deployed at the office of National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) in the vicinity of City Police Station was martyred in a terrorist attack on Thursday.
According to a police spokesperson, Constable Waris Shah, who was performing security duty at the NDARA office, was shot dead by unknown assailants riding on a motorcycle, who later escaped successfully.
District Police Officer (DPO) Tank Iftekhar Ali Shah, Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Haji Nasir Khan, DSP Jandola Syed Marjan Khan, and DSP Headquarters Abdul Rasheed Khan Marwat along with a heavy police contingent reached the site and shifted the body to the DHQ Hospital Tank.
Search operation to trace attackers
A search operation was carried out in the area to trace the attackers.
Later, the funeral prayer of martyred cop was offered at the District Police Office. Besides Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Shoaib, the DPO and officials of district administration, Frontier Constabulary (FC), police, other security forces, a number of local notables and journalists attended the funeral prayer.
On the occasion, the police contingent presented a salute to the martyred constable and laid a wreath on his coffin.
