Cultural Ministry Plans Art City in Federal Capital: Jamal Shah

ISLAMABAD:  Caretaker Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Jamal Shah has said that his ministry, in collaboration with CDA (Capital Development Authority), is planning to come up with Art City to revitalize the national heritage of the federal capital.

He said this in a meeting with the Chairman CDA Capt Retired Anwar-ul-Haq who called on him here at the ministry office on Friday. Both the dignitaries also discussed the proposed plan to revamp and re-energize the cultural infrastructure built by the civic body.

During the meeting the Federal Minister Jamal Shah also suggested that all cultural sites of the federal capital should be upgraded and revamped which would provide a fresh look and would also promote cultural heritage in the country.

Both the dignitaries agreed to have a close liaison to expedite the proposals along with devising an upgradation and revamping plan.

Jamal Shah apprised the Chairman CDA that Bagh-e-Shuhada would be inaugurated on 6th September which would be followed by a musical concert and Art Exhibition at Islamabad Art Gallery to pay tribute to the Martyrs.

Cinemas, Art City as Part of National Heritage

Both the notables also discussed the modalities for establishing Cinemas in Islamabad along with the concept of Art City or “Huner Gaon” for creative contribution which would be added with specially designed residence studios workshops and display places for the Artists and writers.

Along with the Art City, the federal minister also desired to play his role for establishing a housing society for creative contributors by the Ministry and its attached departments offering residential, studio, shops and gallery plots of different categories to visual and performing artists and writers.

Meanwhile, Chairman CDA Captain Retired Anwar ul Haq assured the minister to work on the proposed ideas adding that all the plots would be allocated for auction particularly for cinemas in the federal capital.

The Chairman appreciated the idea of redesigning of red zones gates and facilitation of the capital musicians, actors and poets on easy instalments.

He assured that CDA would leave no stone unturn to assist the Ministry to find Affordable place of land around the ICT to provide the Art City an attractive and rich cultural look.
