Dar Lands in Gambia to Attend OIC Summit

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has arrived in The Gambia to represent Pakistan at the 15th Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit scheduled in Banjul on 4-5 May.

Upon his arrival, he was greeted by Gambian Minister of Petroleum and Energy Nani Juwara, Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Ambassador Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Senegal, and to The Gambia, Saima Maymunah Sayed.

Ishaq Dar said that apart from attending the Summit, he would engage in bilateral meetings with dignitaries from various member countries. A press release from the Foreign Office spokesperson highlighted that during the Summit, the deputy prime minister and foreign minister would address Pakistan’s stance on the ongoing genocide in Gaza, the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu & Kashmir, the importance of Ummah solidarity and unity, increasing Islamophobia, climate change issues, terrorism, and other contemporary global challenges.

It was also emphasized that Dar would stress the necessity for collective solutions to the challenges facing the Muslim Ummah. Additionally, on the sidelines of the Summit, he will hold bilateral meetings with leaders and foreign ministers from participating countries.
