Death Toll in India’s Bihar Toxic Liquor Tragedy Rises to Eight

NEW DELHI: Casualties from the suspected toxic liquor consumption in Bihar, India has risen to 8, All India Radio said on Tuesday.

The state-run broadcaster said that 8 people died and 6 lost their eyesight after consuming spurious liquor in Bihar.

The deaths were first reported Sunday night in Lakri Nabiganj, Siwan district, about 107 kilometers northwest of Patna.

Death toll may rise in Bihar

The death toll was likely to increase as the condition of fourteen people was said to be critical.

Three patients have been sent to Gorakhpur and eleven to Patna Medical College hospital for treatment. 

According to AIR, the Additional Director General of Police in Bihar J.S Gangwar said that the spurious liquor was made from the spirit with Kolkata city with the excuse of making sanitizer.
