Dengue Cases See Decrease in Punjab, 42 New Instances Reported

LAHORE: In a positive development, Punjab has experienced a decrease in dengue cases, reporting 42 new instances on Saturday.

According to a spokesman, the latest health department data reveals a total of 14,763 confirmed dengue cases across 36 districts in Punjab this year. Lahore leads with 6,782 cases, followed by Rawalpindi with 2,649, Gujranwala with 1,563, Multan with 1,417, and Faisalabad with 883 cases.

In the last 24 hours, Lahore saw an additional 26 cases, Rawalpindi reported one, Gujranwala four, and Multan four. Meanwhile, Pakpattan and Jehlum each reported one case of dengue, as mentioned by the spokesperson.

Presently, 51 dengue patients are receiving treatment in various hospitals across Punjab, with 28 of them in Lahore district hospitals. Individuals in need of dengue treatment, information, or those wishing to register complaints can avail themselves of a free helpline provided by the health department at 1033. Emphasizing the importance of vigilance and proactive measures, it is crucial to curb the alarming spread of dengue in Punjab.  —APP
