COPENHAGEN: The Danish prosecutors have filed charges against an Iranian man, 33, who allegedly tried to attack the ambassador of Iran to Denmark, with a knife at the embassy in Copenhagen.

On Friday the prosecutors issued the charges over an attack at an unspecified “foreign” embassy, but a source close to the case confirmed the incident happened at the embassy of Iran.

The man ran towards Ambassador Afsaneh Nadipour with a knife, having the intention of stabbing the envoy, reported by Danish police after the October 7, 2022 incident. However, before the attacker reached the ambassador an employee of the embassy apprehended him.

Meanwhile, the government of Iran blamed the man for having targeted Nadipour and criticized the Danish police for being too slow to react.

According to prosecutors, the man was immediately placed in detention, for most of the time in a psychiatric ward.
