District Administration Launches Rescue Operations for Travelers Stranded at Lowari Tunnel

PESHAWAR: The district administration officials and Chitral Levies personnel rescued stranded travelers on the district Dir side on Tuesday.

The Lowari Tunnel in Chitral has been closed to all traffic as a result of heavy snowfall measuring up to 2 feet.

Lower Chitral police have issued an advisory to passengers traveling from Peshawar to Chitral and from Chitral to the down district. The advisory urged people to exercise caution during their journey, stressing the significance of equipping vehicles with snow chains to prevent accidents caused by slippery roads.

The road on the Chitral side has been cleared, but on the Dir side, the work is still underway.

District Administration’s Activities

Muhammad Imran Khan, Deputy Commissioner Lower Chitral, Dr. Muhammad Ali, Additional Assistant Commissioner, Chitral Levies, and other staff are present at the site.

DC Muhammad Imran Khan is supervising the rescue operations, while the machinery of the National Highways and Motorways Police is engaged in snow-clearing operations.

All departments have been alerted to expedite rescue operations further.
