Dutch Club Arrives in Pakistan to Play 3-match Hockey Series

ISLAMABAD: A top hockey club from the Netherlands arrived in Pakistan on Sunday to play a 3-match friendly series with the Prime Minister’s Youth Talent Hunt team.

It is a historical moment as the Dutch club Billy Ozendaal is the first international hockey team to visit Pakistan after twenty-two years, the event organizer, Olympian Khawaja Muhammad Junaid said.

He said that Orange and Black was the last European club that visited Pakistan in 2001, APP reported.

Hockey series

Junaid said that the series will start with the first 2 games hosted by the National Hockey Stadium, Lahore on Monday and Wednesday. The third game will be played at the Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium in Islamabad on Friday.

He said Khawaja Junaid Hockey Academy had joined hands with Billy Ozendaal to strengthen the national sport of hockey in Pakistan following the requirements of modern times.

We aim to boost the capabilities of our talented players and for that, we are committed to the exchange of expertise and fostering a closer relationship between the two nations, he added.

Our team will also travel to the Netherlands in August to play matches, Junaid said, who was part of Pakistan’s bronze medal-winning team at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona.
