ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday said that saving the planet from the ill effects of climate change was a collective endeavor in which everyone mattered.
Taking to his Twitter handle on Saturday, the prime minister reiterated that Pakistan joined the global community today to observe ‘Earth Hour’ and demonstrate the commitment to fulfilling the obligations to combat climate change.

Today, Earth Hour is being observed across the globe by millions of people from over 190 countries and territories, as they switch off lights for just one hour.
Earth Hour in Pakistan
Like other countries, People in Pakistan will also express their resilience and join the international community in switching off the lights for one hour. Meanwhile, lights will also be switched off in the official buildings. Besides street lights and other public and private buildings would also become part of the awareness campaign.
Turn Off the Lights: UN Secretary-General
Meanwhile, in a video message, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called millions of people worldwide to play their role in saving the planet while making it a peaceful and nature-friendly place.
“I ask you to switch off your lights on March 25th at 8:30 p.m. local time”, he said
The event was first launched by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in 2007 and is part of an annual tradition to raise awareness about climate change.
