ISLAMABAD: In a letter to French President Emmanuel Macron, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that efforts to allow Russian athletes at the upcoming Paris Olympics show that terror is acceptable.

In the letter, Zelensky mentioned the great historical Olympic mistake in which Nazi Germany’s Berlin staged the 1936 games.

He maintained that terrorist states and the Olympic movement should not cross paths.

A week ago, the International Olympic Committee had signaled to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes the possibility of athletes from Russia and Belarus as neutrals on the condition that they have not supported the Ukraine conflict openly.

Zelensky against Russian athletes at Paris Olympics

Addressing a gathering, Ukraine’s President said that the IOC’s attempts to athletes from Russia back to the Olympic Games are a bid to inform the world that somehow terror is acceptable.

Zelensky stress it would mean one could shut their eyes to what Russia is doing in Avdiivka, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Bakhmut.
