Egyptians Turn Out in Large Numbers on Final Day of Presidential Elections

CAIRO: On the third and final day of Egypt’s presidential elections, Egyptians demonstrated strong participation, with queues forming early at polling stations across the country. Thousands of voters turned out, showcasing a significant level of engagement in the electoral process.

In the southern Aswan governorate, approximately 5,000 people marched to the main voting centers, reflecting the enthusiasm and interest in the elections. Women took the lead in the voter turnout in Luxor governorate, while polling stations in Port Said, Cairo center, and Damietta governorate in northern Egypt reported hurried voting activities.

Voters’ Participation in Egypt Presidential Elections

Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal observed a notable presence of young voters, indicating the diverse demographic engagement in the electoral process. Officials from the National Elections Authority reported a strong overall turnout for the elections.

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, widely expected to secure a victory, faces competition from three other candidates: Abdel-Sanad Yamama, the head of Wafd, Egypt’s oldest party; Hazem Omar, leader of the Republican People’s Party; and Farid Zahran, representing the Social Democratic Party.

The election results are scheduled to be announced on December 18, marking the conclusion of the presidential elections in Egypt.
