Eid-ul-Fitr: Safari Train Trip Arranged to Boost Religious Tourism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority has announced to run the Takht Bhai Train Safari during Eid-ul-Fitr, aim to raise national and international awareness about the archaeological and religious tourism opportunities in the province.

The Tourism Advisor Zahid shared the details with the media on Saturday. He said that the participants will embark on a tour of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Secretary of Tourism, Culture, and Archeology Muhammad Bakhtiar, along with Director General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority Barkatullah Marwat, and other senior officials, were also present during the announcement.

He briefed that on the joyous occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, the Culture and Tourism Authority is organizing the Takht Bhai Train Safari for the second time. Scheduled for Saturday, April 13, the safari will journey from Peshawar to Takht Bhai, a significant historical archeological site in the province.

Zahid said that female participants will board the safari train from Peshawar Sadar Railway Station and will visit various historical sites along the way, including City Railway Station, Nasirpur, Pabbi, Nowshera, Risalpur, and Mardan. The participants will also explore various historical sites, notably the ancient Buddhist monasteries in Takht Bhai.

Director General of Tourism Authority, Barkatullah Marwat, will lead a one-day guided tour for men, women, and children. Additionally, the tourism police will assist tourists during Eid-ul-Fitr. Traditional band tunes will welcome participants at the railway station before departure.

Zahid highlighted that archaeologists and guides accompanying the trip will offer valuable insights into the history and architecture of Takht Bhai. The purpose of the visit is to promote religious tourism in the province while providing participants with information about religious, cultural, and archaeological sites, heritage, and history.

Zahid concluded by mentioning that the ruins of Takht Bhai have been recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, attracting millions of domestic and foreign tourists, Buddhists, historians, and archaeologists from around the globe.
