ISLAMABAD: Twitter’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Elon Musk has announced relaunching of Twitter Blue on November 29.

In a tweet, the billionaire said that he was “punting” the relaunch of the $7.99 monthly subscription service to make sure it was “rock solid.”

Twitter Blue offers an account verification badge — the ‘Blue Tick’ — and access to exclusive premium features.

Elon Musk and Twitter’s Verification Woes

Before Musk’s Twitter acquisition, identity verification was free. The ‘Blue Tick’ badge was only authorized for politicians, famous people, and influential personalities.

After the billionaire announced an $8 subscriber fee to get verified accounts, several users started mimicking politicians and influential figures, including Elon Musk.

Recently, Elon Musk warned that users who employ impersonation without explicitly stating “parody” risk having their accounts permanently terminated without warning.

After Elon Musk’s $44 billion acquisition, the firm has recently undergone an overhaul, including firing senior executives, launching a membership program to verify accounts, and reducing the workforce.
