ANKARA: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reiterated Ankara’s unwavering support for the Palestinian resistance group Hamas, asserting that no external pressure could force Turkey to label them as a terrorist organization.

“No-one can make us qualify Hamas as a terrorist organization,” Erdogan said in a speech in Istanbul. “Turkey is a country that speaks openly with Hamas leaders and firmly backs them.”

In his address, Erdogan condemned Israel’s actions and criticized its response to the conflict in Gaza, which erupted on October 7. Since October 7, Israel has launched a relentless ground and air offensive, that has killed nearly 40,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, in the besieged Palestinian enclave.

Turkey’s Commitment to Palestinian Cause

Erdogan has been among the fiercest critics of Israel, denouncing its actions as tantamount to terrorism and accusing it of perpetrating genocide in Gaza.

Erdogan’s reaffirmation of Turkey’s support for Palestinian resistance group Hamas leaders underscores the country’s commitment to championing the Palestinian cause on the international stage.
