WASHINGTON: U.S. chain Burger King has not announced it is going to shut down operations, despite various social media posts speculating over the firm’s fate in April 2024.

According to several social media posts, “Fast Food Giant Announces It is CLOSING Its Doors for good!!,” “Sorry, we are closed.” Many social media users reacted over the news and expressed sorrow over the closure of Burger King.

However, Reuters reported that there are no credible reports suggesting that the brand has announced its closure. A Burger King official has also declined to comment over the matter. Earlier, Today.com stated that RBI CEO Joshua Kobza said that the firm “historically” closes “a couple hundred” Burger King restaurants annually and plans to close up to around 400 restaurants before the end of 2023.

RBI executives claimed that they plan to increase the number of Burger King U.S. franchisees from 300 to 500 over the next 5 years. Reuters reported that Burger King is not going to announce in April 2024 that it is going to close its restaurants.
