ISLAMABAD: A viral video circulating on social media has garnered over six million views, promoting the notion that specific yoga exercises can effectively address blood clots during a heart attack.

However, this claim is unequivocally false. Originating from a Facebook post on December 9, the video features a yoga instructor demonstrating breathing exercises purportedly capable of dissolving blood clots during chest pains, thus preventing heart attacks. Despite accumulating 22,000 shares, 54,000 likes, and 1.2 million views, the claim lacks validity.

Contrary to the video’s claims, three Pakistani cardiologists emphasized the importance of seeking immediate medical attention in the event of chest pain. Dr. Muhammad Nadeem, the medical superintendent at the Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology (FIC), stressed the urgency of hospitalization, asserting that delays can exacerbate heart muscle damage caused by blood clots. He dismissed the online assertions as fictitious.

Similarly, Dr. Jabar Ali, an interventional cardiologist at Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar, and Dr. Muhammad Suhail Saleemi, a cardiologist at Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi Institute of Cardiology in Multan, termed the online claims as misleading and unsubstantiated by scientific evidence.
