Fact Check: Image of Taylor Swift Wearing Anti-Trump Shirt

WASHINGTON: A photo shared across several platforms of social media seems to show Taylor Swift wearing an anti-Donald Trump T-shirt that pronounces “Nope. Not again.”

Some social media users shared the photo multiple times, while others spread different images purporting to show Swift or other high-profile people such as Vice President Kamala Harris sporting the same apparel.

The photo also spread on X, where many appeared to believe it is an authentic shot of the American star, whose influence has made her a target of online disinformation.

Taylor Swift, named Time magazine’s Person of the Year in 2023, boasts approval ratings and a sway over her countless fans that experts think could make her support valuable in the upcoming 2024 US presidential polls, where Donald Trump is the frontrunner to earn the Republican Party’s nomination.

The social media post is one of dozens sharing the photo of Taylor Swift alongside links to a website selling T-shirts in the same design. The T-shirt features text that says: “Nope. Not again,” with art suggestive of Trump’s hairstyle and a red tie decorating the letter “o” in “Nope.”
