Fact Check: Does Power Ministry Seek Job Applications?

ISLAMABAD: An advertisement is seen in social media platforms seeking job applications for posts in national power distribution company.

A company named Combined Electricity Distribution Companies (CEDCOS) has sought applications for thousands of jobs across Pakistan in power sector.

It has asked intending candidates to deposit Rs.1000 as application fee in accounts in Bank Islami or Habib Metropolitan Bank. It also gave a number of the jazz cash account to collect the said amount.

Fack Check The Power Division of the Ministry of Energy has declared the advertisement as fake and asked the interested candidate to be vigilant against this fraudulent activity. It said that the company is fake and the positions advertised in media have no relation to Power Division or any organization under power division. It regretted that many candidates have applied or applying against these positions. The ministry has made a formal request to the FIA seeking an immediate action against the culprits to save the un-employed youth from this fraud.

The Power Division of the Ministry of Energy has declared the advertisement as fake and asked the interested candidate to be vigilant against this fraudulent activity.

It said that the company is fake and the positions advertised in media have no relation to Power Division or any organization under power division. It regretted that many candidates have applied or applying against these positions.

The ministry has made a formal request to the FIA seeking an immediate action against the culprits to save the un-employed youth from this fraud.
