Fagerli, Mnich Grab World Freestyle Football Titles

NAIRBI: Erlend Fagerli of Norway secured his record 10th World Freestyle Football (WFF) Championship title by triumphing over French prodigy Tristan Gac in Nairobi at Bomas of Kenya.

This victory solidified Erlend’s position as the greatest of all time in the sport, bringing the prestigious title back to Norway. Simultaneously, the illustrious Polish figure, Aguska Mnich, claimed her sixth World Championship.

The 2023 World Freestyle Football Championship marked a significant milestone as it embraced a new competitive structure under the Pulse Series, with qualifying events held globally across continents. Notably, the tournament, orchestrated by the World Freestyle Football Association in collaboration with esteemed Kenyan agency Homeboyz, also showcased Aguska Mnich’s remarkable win against formidable competitor Jasmijn Janssen in the female final.

Venezuela’s Laura Biondo and the Netherlands’ Jesse Marlet clinched bronze in their respective categories, adding to the tournament’s roster of exceptional talent.

This edition of the championship not only made history with its revamped competitive format but also achieved widespread viewership by being broadcast on the TikTok channel of renowned Italian football giants Juventus, garnering immense success.

Beyond the sporting spectacle, the event dedicated time to various community-oriented activities in Nairobi, a gesture to appreciate and give back to the local supporters who wholeheartedly backed the athletes during their stay in the Kenyan capital.

“I’m just… so happy”, said Erlend Fagerli, the newly-crowned Freestyle Football male World Champion.

“It’s very special to win such a tournament right before retiring from the professional circuit. I wasn’t sure I was going to win at all – the level this year was incredibly high. It’s amazing how the sport has evolved since I started!”

“I’ve been working so hard for this… I almost can’t believe it happened”, said Aguska Mnich, the new female World Champion.

“It’s truly a dream to be here and be World Champion again. I had many difficulties on the way here, but thanks to my trust in God, I’ve finally made it. I know it wasn’t me – it’s all thanks to Him”.
