PESHAWAR: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader, Faisal Karim Kundi, on Saturday took oath as Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Chief Justice Peshawar High Court (PHC) Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim administered the oath to Faisal Karim Kundi in a ceremony held at Governor House.

Faisal Karim Kundi, who previously served as the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly from 2008 to 2013 and held the position of Adviser to the Prime Minister in the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government, expressed gratitude to the party leadership for entrusting him with this responsibility. In his remarks after taking the oath, Kundi pledged to work towards bridging the gap between the province and the federal government. He emphasized his commitment to addressing the various issues faced by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Highlighting the challenges confronting the province, Kundi reiterated his dedication to steering KP towards prosperity and development. He stressed the importance of concerted efforts to uplift the region and improve the lives of its residents.

The appointment of Kundi as the Governor of KP comes following the approval of President Asif Ali Zardari, who endorsed the nominations of governors for Punjab, KP, and Balochistan provinces. Alongside Kundi, Sardar Saleem Haider Khan and Jaffar Khan Mandokhail were appointed as Governors of Punjab and Balochistan, respectively.

The decision to appoint Kundi and Sardar Saleem Haider Khan was made by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari as part of a coalition agreement with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) before joining the coalition government.
