FAO and AUP to Jointly Work for Food Security, Nutrition, Agricultural Development

PESHAWAR: The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has pledged its support to Agriculture University Peshawar (AUP) for various agricultural projects and developments, particularly in nutrition and food security.

A delegation conveyed this commitment from FAO during their visit to AUP, where they met with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Jahan Bakht. The delegation, led by Farakh Turov, received a briefing on the ongoing academic and extracurricular activities and research initiatives at the university.

During their meeting, Farakh Turov engaged in a comprehensive discussion with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Jahan Bakht regarding FAO’s initiatives in Pakistan and globally, focusing on agriculture, nutrition, and food security. Turov emphasized the intention to collaborate on various joint projects with the university and assured the participation of university students in FAO activities.

In response, the vice-chancellor thanked the FAO delegation and affirmed the university’s commitment to cooperate with FAO fully. He also pledged to provide opportunities for university students to engage in FAO initiatives related to agriculture, food security, and nutrition.

Present at the meeting were Registrar Dr. Rizwan Ahmed, Director of Vice Chancellor Secretariat Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zulfiqar, and FAO’s representative for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mujeebur Rehman.
