ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has confirmed that it has registered a new case on Azam Swati’s controversial statement.
A case has been registered in the Cyber Crime Wing of the Agency on the complaint of FIA’s Technical Assistant Anees ur Rahman under the Defamation and PICA Act. A 3-member FIA team under the supervision of magistrate Waqas Ahmed Raja raided Azam Swati’s farmhouse in Islamabad. Later, the FIA Cyber Crime Wing confirmed the arrest of Azam Swati for his speech a day earlier.
In a video message filmed at the time of his arrest, Azam Swati stated, “Earlier FIA took me into custody without a warrant, today they have come along with a magistrate which is the proper way”. It should be noted that earlier Azam Swati was arrested from his residence on October 13; last month and was later released on bail.
