ISLAMABAD: In a significant stride toward combating human trafficking, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has introduced Pakistan’s first-ever Trafficking-in-Persons (TIP) Hotline, dedicated to registering complaints against human trafficking activities.

Individuals can report complaints by calling 111-247-786, establishing a direct and accessible channel to combat this heinous crime.

Developed in collaboration with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and financially supported by the Australian High Commission, this initiative goes beyond the hotline, incorporating a national referral mechanism and a Management Information System (MIS). These additions are aimed at enhancing the efficiency of services provided to victims of human trafficking.

During the launch event, Director General FIA, Mohsin Hassan Butt, highlighted the pivotal role of the National TIP Hotline project in the ongoing fight against trafficking crimes. The Australian Deputy High Commissioner praised the collaborative efforts between FIA and ILO, recognizing the introduction of the hotline as a revolutionary step in addressing human trafficking comprehensively. The initiative seeks to streamline the process of reporting, addressing, and providing support to victims of human trafficking across Pakistan.

In his closing remarks, DG FIA Mohsin Hassan Butt expressed deep gratitude to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for their support and underscored the longstanding and fruitful collaboration between FIA and UNODC.

The launch ceremony saw the participation of key figures, including Director General FIA Mohsin Hassan, ADG Immigration FIA, the Country Representative of UNODC, the Australian Deputy High Commissioner, the Director of ILO, a US political advisor, and other esteemed dignitaries.
