Fines Increased for Speed Limit Violations on Dubai-Sharjah Road

DUBAI: New traffic regulations have been implemented for the Dubai to Sharjah route via Al Ittihad Road to Al Garhoud Bridge, with high fines for speed limit violations reaching up to Dh3,000.

The revised speed limit on this route is now 80kmph, reduced from the previous 100kmph. According to the updated federal traffic law in the UAE, exceeding the maximum speed limit by no more than 20kmph will cost a Dh300 fine.

Fines

  • Exceeding the maximum speed limit by no more than 20kmph will result in a Dh300 fine.
  • Exceeding the maximum speed limit by no more than 30kmph will incur a Dh600 fine.
  • Exceeding the maximum speed limit by no more than 40kmph will lead to a Dh700 fine.
  • Exceeding the maximum speed limit by no more than 50kmph will result in a Dh1,000 fine.
  • Exceeding the maximum speed limit by no more than 60kmph will incur a Dh1,500 fine, 6 black points, and a 15-day confiscation.
  • Exceeding the maximum speed limit by more than 60kmph will lead to a Dh2,000 fine, 12 black points, and a 30-day confiscation.
  • Exceeding the maximum speed limit by over 80kmph will result in a Dh3,000 fine, 23 black points, and a 60-day confiscation.

 

Additionally, driving a vehicle below the minimum speed limit set for the road will result in a Dh400 fine.
