MILAN: History was made in Serie A as an all-female refereeing team led the charge for the first time on Sunday. Maria Sole Ferrieri Caputi, assisted by Tiziana Trasciatti and Francesca Di Monte, commanded the field as Inter Milan secured a 2-0 victory over Torino at the San Siro.

Ferrieri Caputi exhibited her authority by issuing a red card to Torino’s Adrien Tameze in the 49th minute, following a foul on Henrikh Mkhitaryan, confirmed after review at the pitch-side monitor. The match saw another decisive moment when Matteo Lovato’s foul on Marcus Thuram led to a penalty, expertly converted by Hakan Calhanoglu, securing Inter’s second goal.

This marked Ferrieri Caputi’s 10th Serie A match since her debut in 2022, where she showcased her capabilities in controlling the game. Prior to this milestone, the trio had collaborated in a second division match in 2022 and officiated the Coppa Italia last 16 game between Napoli and Cremonese in January 2023.
