PESHAWAR: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) released a comprehensive report detailing the impact of recent rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), revealing the loss of lives and property over the last two days.

According to the report, the rains resulted in the tragic deaths of five individuals, including three men and two women, while eight others sustained injuries, including five children, two men, and one woman.

The adverse weather conditions also inflicted damage on residential structures, with a total of 14 houses affected. Among these, one house was completely destroyed, while 13 others suffered partial damage. The affected districts, including Bajaur, Batagram, Mansehra, Buner, Dir Upper, and Lower, witnessed life and financial disruptions due to heavy rainfall.

Despite the challenges posed by the inclement weather, authorities have managed to reopen all highways and link roads across the province, ensuring unimpeded traffic flow. Relief efforts are actively underway in the rain-affected districts, with PDMA and other relevant agencies coordinating relief activities to support affected communities.

The PDMA has issued a warning forecasting intermittent rain until April 30, underscoring the need for continued vigilance and preemptive measures by district administrations. The Emergency Operation Center established by PDMA remains fully operational, urging residents to promptly report any emergencies or incidents by dialing 1700.

As KP grapples with the aftermath of the rain-induced calamities, concerted efforts are underway to mitigate further risks and provide assistance to those affected, emphasizing the importance of proactive disaster management measures and community resilience in the face of natural disasters.
