ABBOTTABAD: At least two individuals tragically lost their lives on Tuesday, and several others sustained injuries due to heavy downpours and flash floods in Hazara division.

According to Rescue 1122 and district administration sources, continuous heavy rainfall triggered flash floods that devastated roads across all eight districts of the region. Two women lost their lives, and several individuals were injured in incidents including roof collapses and drowning.

In district Battagram, three girls tragically drowned in Nullah at village Banian. Local residents and Rescue 1122 successfully recovered one of the girls’ bodies. In another incident, three girls were swept away in Sirai Arboza drain in Oghi. One girl unfortunately succumbed to the floodwaters, while two others were rescued by locals and Rescue 1122 after nearly two hours of strenuous efforts.

The heavy rainfall caused significant road damage in districts including Abbottabad, Mansehra, Battagram, Torghar, and Kohistan, including sections of the Karakoram Highway (KKH).

The district administration, Frontier Works Organization (FWO), and National Highway Authority (NHA) swiftly responded by clearing landslides on the KKH in Kohistan.

The aftermath of these flash floods underscores the urgent need for continued vigilance and preparedness in managing natural disasters in Hazara division.
