‘Flavours of Malaysia’ Food Festival Enchants Pakistan’s Capital

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Serena Hotel, in partnership with the High Commission of Malaysia, has introduced Pakistani taste buds with the exquisite flavors of Malaysian cuisine.

This culinary extravaganza, known as the ‘Flavours of Malaysia,’ started today and will continue until September 15th to September 21st, 2023, at Zamana Restaurant.

The Food Festival was inaugurated for the public by Aziz Boolani, CEO of Islamabad Serena Hotels, and Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, the Malaysian High Commissioner. The highlight of the event is the presence of renowned Malaysian Chef Rizal Bin Masir, who has specially flown in from Malaysia to curate the Malaysian culinary experience.

This 7-day festival is a celebration of the enduring friendship and collaboration between Pakistan and Malaysia, spanning 66 years. In addition to the mouthwatering dishes, the festival mesmerizes attendees with captivating cultural dance performances, representing the diverse regions and cultures of Malaysia. The performances include Melayu dance, Iban dance, Melanau dance, Bidayau dance, and Orang Ulu dance, offering a glimpse into Malaysia’s rich cultural tapestry.

Aziz Boolani, praised the collaboration with the High Commission of Malaysia for fostering cultural exchange and strengthening the bond between the two nations. Otto Kurzendorfer, General Manager of Islamabad Serena Hotel, expressed delight in bringing Chef Riezal Bin Masir and the Malaysian cultural troupe to Pakistan, sharing the magic of Malaysian cuisine and culture with Pakistani patrons.

Malaysian High Commissioner Ambassador Mohammad Azhar Mazlan extended his gratitude for the collaboration and highlighted the longstanding relationship and cooperation between Malaysia and Pakistan based on shared values and mutual interests. The ‘Flavours of Malaysia’ Food Festival is part of the Malaysian High Commission’s month-long Independence Day Celebrations, aimed at bringing the cultures and traditions of Malaysia closer to the people of Pakistan.
