Food Authority Checking Milk-carrying Vehicles After Ban on Open Milk

LAHORE: Provincial Food Authority in Punjab Province checked dozens of vehicles carrying milk after which adulterated milk was destroyed.

According to the details, Punjab Food Authority checked vehicles carrying milk in different cities of Punjab, Muzaffargarh, and Bahawalpur region, during which 7400 liters of adulterated milk was destroyed. Director General Food Authority Mudassar Riaz Malik has said that samples of 95 vehicles passed while the samples of 21 vehicles failed.

The Director General (DG) said that 2,500 liters of adulterated milk was destroyed from 3 shops. It should be noted that two days ago, the Punjab Food Authority decided to ban the sale of open milk. Sources in the Food Authority said that the bill for minimum pasteurization milk has been passed. According to the Food Authority, open milk contains a high amount of aflatoxin which is harmful to health.
