LONDON: Co-Founder ‘Muslim Hands Open Kitchen’, Ehsan Shahid Choudhry has been awarded British Empire Medal in recognition of his social services.

Belonging to Borough Hounslow of West London, he is the first Pakistani-Britain to get the honour. Shahid had, some four years back, started the kitchen in collaboration with Muslim Hands International in Hounslow to offer free of cost meals and other things to the needy.

The kitchen has been continuing its services without a break for the last four years to the benefit of locals and migrant families.

Muslim charity organisations in large number have been operating from the UK to help people in Asia and Africa. British people donate these organisations for the huge assistance programmes.

The kitchen also played a big role in providing relief to the families and thousands of workers who were jobless during covid pandemic. The medal awarded to Ihsan Shahid Choudhry is a recognition of his services for the British people, also appreciated by the Hounslow community. Chaudhary – residing in London for the past 30 years – belongs to Pakistan’s Mian Channu in Punjab province and also a poet and an author.
