HASILPUR, Pakistan: In a tragic incident near Hasilpur city in Bahawalpur District, at least four lives were lost when a passenger van collided with a truck, local media reported on Monday.
The accident occurred in the backdrop of dense fog on a highway, causing a van carrying 15 passengers to collide with a truck. Unfortunately, four passengers lost their lives, and 11 others sustained injuries in the collision.
Upon receiving the distressing news, both rescue teams and the police promptly arrived at the scene. Their immediate response included shifting the injured to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for urgent medical assistance.
Rescue officials attributed the accident to the challenging visibility conditions created by thick fog in the area.
This incident echoes a similar tragedy earlier this year when a collision between a car and a tractor-trolley claimed the lives of five women and left several others injured. The collision occurred near Tando Muhammad Khan city in Sindh province, on Bulri Shah Karim Road. The victims, including four women from the same family residing in Hyderabad’s Nara Jail Colony, lost their lives in the heart-wrenching accident. Such incidents highlight the ongoing challenges on road safety, especially in adverse weather conditions.
