French Comedy “Chicken for Linda!” Wins Top Prize at Annecy Festival

PARIS: The hilarious French comedy film “Chicken for Linda!” emerged victorious as it secured the top prize at the prestigious Annecy animated film festival in France, according to the organizers’ announcement.

Directed by Chiara Malta and Sebastien Laudenbach, the feature-length film was awarded the Silver Crystal, a highly coveted accolade at Annecy, which is renowned as a major festival for animated films. Adding to its achievements, “Chicken for Linda!” had previously received a screening at the esteemed Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.

Other Winners at Annecy Festival

Another noteworthy winner at the festival was “Four Souls of Coyote”, directed by Hungary’s Aron Gauder, which garnered the Jury Award. This gripping film delves into the struggles of native Americans fighting against an oil pipeline project, capturing the attention and admiration of the jury.

The Audience Prize was bestowed upon “Sirocco and the Kingdom of Air Streams”, a magical adventure directed by Benoit Chieux from the Franco-Belgian collaboration. The film captivated viewers with its enchanting tale of two sisters embarking on a captivating journey.

The festival’s lineup comprised a total of 11 outstanding films, each showcasing remarkable storytelling and animation. According to the organizers, this year’s Annecy festival witnessed record-breaking attendance, with 15,820 individuals from 102 different countries in attendance. This marked a remarkable 19 percent increase compared to the previous year, which had already set a record in terms of participation.
