In Brazil, the proverbial goose that lays the golden egg is in reality something closer to a pheasant that excretes coffee beans.

Once viewed as a pest, the Jacu bird has revolutionised one coffee plantation in Brazil, which makes coffee using beans which have passed through the bird. The product costs 1,118 reais (US$228) per kilo in Brazil, and even more overseas. AFP
