NEW DEHLI: Gautam Gambhir recently voiced his wish for an India-Pakistan showdown in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final, slated to take place in the USA and West Indies. In an interview, he stressed the importance of celebrating success rather than reveling in the downfall of the opposing team.

Expressing concern over the prevalent negative fan attitude, the former Delhi-born cricketer highlighted the need to shift away from finding joy in the rival team’s defeat. He urged supporters to embrace their team’s success rather than deriving satisfaction from others’ failures.

Gambhir emphasized the impact of social media on fan behaviour, calling for a change in mindset. He criticized the trend where fans celebrate the losses of opposing teams, stating it’s time to find joy in one’s own achievements rather than deriving pleasure from others’ misfortune.

The 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup, scheduled from June 4 to 30, will mark the first time America hosts an international cricket event. ESPN Cricinfo reported that the ICC team inspected potential venues in the USA, including Lauderhill in Florida, Morrisville, Dallas, and New York.
