GAZA: Hundreds of innocent Palestinian people evacuated Gaza’s Al-Shifa hospital on foot on Saturday following the ultimatum issued by the Israeli army. An AFP journalist present at the scene confirmed that people had evacuated the hospital.
The Palestinian health ministry released a statement stating that 120 injured individuals and an unspecified number of premature babies remained at the facility. The ministry mentioned ongoing communication with the Red Cross regarding the infants. Some medical staff opted to stay behind to care for those who couldn’t be relocated.
A procession of sick and injured individuals, including amputees, displaced persons, doctors, and nurses, headed towards the seafront.
Before Israeli troops entered on Wednesday, the United Nations estimated that approximately 2,300 patients, staff, and displaced Palestinians sought refuge at Al-Shifa.
According to health officials, dozens of patients have died at the hospital due to blackouts caused by fuel shortages resulting from intense combat in northern Gaza.
