RIYADH: Secretary General of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi has called on the global community to act collectively and put pressure on the Israeli occupation forces to stop their dangerous aggressive violations against Palestinian territories and their threats to the lives of innocent civilians, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Tuesday.

Albudaiwi emphasized that the continuation of such attacks undermines the prospects for peace and contributes to the escalating violence in the region, adding that this necessitates an immediate international intervention to end the crisis.

He added that the expansion of Israeli military operations within Palestinian territories, including Rafah in the Gaza Strip, would put the lives of many Palestinians in danger and directly threaten the peace and security of the whole region.

Albudaiwi reaffirmed the GCC’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause, referring to the statement issued by the extraordinary meeting of the GCC, which expressed the commitment to the call for an international conference involving all concerned parties to discuss all matters related to the Palestinian cause and to reach a solution based on ending the Israeli occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state with east Jerusalem as its capital, according to the relevant United Nations resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
