KARACHI: In the electoral battleground of PS-77 Jamshoro-1, former Chief Minister of Sindh and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate, Syed Murad Ali Shah, emerged victorious with a significant lead. According to unofficial and unconfirmed results, the former chief minister clinched the provincial assembly seat by securing a total of 67,513 votes.
The runner-up in the contest was Roshan Ali Barro, representing the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), who managed to secure 7,000 votes.
The elections held on Thursday marked a significant moment in Pakistan’s democratic journey, with citizens turning out in large numbers to cast their ballots.
As the world’s fifth-largest democracy, Pakistan witnessed a competitive electoral landscape, with major political parties such as Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F), Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), and a multitude of independent candidates vying for victory in national and provincial constituencies.
