TEHRAN: Google is celebrating the Iranian New Year ‘Nowruz’ with a special doodle, joining its tradition of creating captivating doodles for various cultural and social occasions globally.

Crafted by the talented Iranian guest artist Pendar Yousefi, the doodle pays homage to a festival steeped in history, spanning over 3,000 years.

In the artwork, Yousefi captures his fond childhood memories of Nowruz, portraying animal friends gathering in a flower-filled courtyard beneath a blossoming tree. The scene symbolizes joy, unity, and optimism, reflecting the essence of the festival.

Derived from Farsi, the word “Nowruz” translates to “new day,” signifying the start of a fresh beginning. This cultural event holds immense significance, fostering unity among diverse communities across different regions and countries.

On Nowruz, families come together around a table to enjoy a special meal with loved ones, exchanging gifts and artisanal crafts. The day is marked by street performances, traditional music, dance, communal rituals involving water and fire, traditional sports, and the creation of handicrafts.

Nowruz, a vibrant springtime celebration, promotes values of peace, respect, kinship, and harmony between humanity and nature. Google’s thematic doodle, showcased on its homepage, serves as a symbolic tribute to this occasion. Renowned for its creative and interactive doodles, Google frequently utilizes them to honour significant events and individuals’ achievements.
