LAHORE: As temperatures continue to rise in Punjab, Lahore is bracing for a scorching day, with the mercury expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius. The onset of load shedding is adding to the discomfort for Lahoris.

According to the Meteorological Department, Lahore is likely to experience even hotter weather this week, with temperatures expected to hit 43 degrees Celsius, as the region remains hot and dry. However, there’s a 30% chance of rain in the Punjab capital on Sunday, as per the Met Department.

Residents in Lahore are already feeling the effects of the rising temperatures, aggravated by intermittent power outages in various neighborhoods, disrupting daily life for many.

In areas like Samanabad, Chauburji, and nearby localities, residents are enduring up to six hours of load shedding, sparking concerns among locals, especially as the intense heat persists.

Experts are advising citizens to increase water intake and cover their heads when going out. “Avoid unnecessary outdoor activities in the hot weather,” they suggest.

Temperature in Karachi and Coastal Areas;

Meanwhile, Karachi and coastal areas of Sindh are also preparing for scorching temperatures in the days ahead. Weather forecasts predict a rise in mercury levels, with temperatures possibly reaching as high as 46 degrees Celsius in upper and central Sindh.

Karachi is expected to experience temperatures between 36°C and 38°C, compounded by high humidity levels, making it feel closer to 40°C to 44°C.

Given these forecasts, health experts are urging citizens to take precautionary measures against the heatwave. Increased water intake is crucial, they stress, to prevent dehydration and heat-related illnesses.
