FAISALABAD: In what could be best described as an incident of glaring medical negligence, doctors at a private hospital in Ghulam Muhammadabad area of the city, mistakenly performed the wrong operations on two women with similar names, local media reported on Wednesday.

The first victim, Parveen Kausar who is a resident of Ghulam Muhammadabad in Faisalabad city, was scheduled to undergo knee surgery. However, due to a mix-up in patient records, she was subjected to gallbladder operation.

Meanwhile, the other woman with name, Kausar Parveen – a resident of Chak 58 in the suburbs of Faisalabad – underwent a knee surgery instead of receiving surgery of gallbladder, due to which the condition of the patient got worst.

Furthermore, the affected women’s families, deeply aggrieved by the medical mishap, reached out to the police for legal proceedings against those responsible and further investigation.
