HESCO Cracks Down on Electricity Theft, Apprehends 385 Connections in 24 Hours

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) intensified its operation against electricity theft, reporting the apprehension of 385 more connections involved in power theft within the past 24 hours.

Among these, 06 were commercial, 02 were industrial, and 377 were domestic connections. A spokesperson for HESCO disclosed that letters have been submitted to various police stations to register cases against 356 individuals implicated in electricity theft, resulting in the registration of 22 FIRs.

Furthermore, all connections engaged in power theft were promptly disconnected by HESCO authorities, and detection bills amounting to over 5 million rupees were issued, covering a total of 194,302 units. It is noteworthy that during the ongoing 180-day drive, HESCO has successfully recovered a cumulative total exceeding 11,605.9 million rupees.
