High-rise Residential Building in Spain’s Valencia Engulfed by Major Fire

VALENCIA, Spain: A massive fire destroyed a high-rise residential building in Valencia, Spain.

The fire broke out in a 14-storey block in the Campanar area and spread to nearby buildings.

More than 20 firefighters extinguished the fire. Several people were injured in the incident and local media reported that they may have been trapped inside the house.

The Valencia Emergency Coordination Center said 13 people, including six firefighters, were treated for injuries.

According to local reports, firefighters used a crane to rescue several residents, including a couple living on the seventh floor.

A man who lives on the second floor of the building told media that after the fire broke out, the flames spread quickly and reportedly started on the fourth floor.

He stated that the fire spread in only 10 minutes. He said it is possible that some materials in the facade of the building caused the fire to spread.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez expressed sorrow over the loss. He expressed solidarity with all those affected as he thanked to all the emergency personnel.
