Home Dept Identifies over 22,000 Illegal Foreigners in KP’s Major Cities

PESHAWAR: The Home and Tribal Affairs Department of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has compiled a comprehensive dataset on undocumented foreigners, mainly Afghan nationals, currently residing in the province’s major cities.

This data has been forwarded to the Ministry of Interior for their records and further action. According to the Home Department’s report, approximately 22,347 Afghan individuals live in the province without legal documentation. They are dispersed across 32 districts, with the largest concentration, 17,832, in Peshawar. Other significant numbers are recorded in Khyber (1,523), Kohat (1,228), and Lower Waziristan (607), as well as smaller populations in Batagram, Tank, Torghar, Kohistan, Swabi, and Mansehra.

The Home Department also reported that 206,018 individuals from 16,530 Afghan families have voluntarily chosen to return to their home country.

Additionally, on November 12, 3,043 individuals returned to Afghanistan via the Torkham Border crossing. During this repatriation process, 149 individuals residing in the province without proper authorization were deported to their home countries. —APP
