SANA, Yemen: The Houthi armed forces of Yemen reported targeting an American oil tanker in the Gulf of Aden and American warships in the Red Sea.

Spokesman Yahya Saree announced the attacks on Telegram, citing retaliation against perceived aggression towards Palestinians and strikes by the United States and the United Kingdom on Yemen.

Details regarding the outcome of the attacks were not provided by Saree. Earlier, the US military confirmed intercepting an anti-ship ballistic missile launched by the Houthis in the Red Sea, noting the missile’s likely target was the US-flagged chemical and oil tanker MV Torm Thor.

The Houthis have previously targeted cargo ships in the Red Sea associated with Israeli companies or involved in trade with Israel, in solidarity with the Gaza Strip amid ongoing conflict with Israel.

As tensions escalate due to joint military actions by the US and UK against Houthi positions in Yemen, Houthi have declared all American and British ships as legitimate military targets. These developments further heighten tensions in the region and underscore the complexity of the ongoing conflict dynamics.
