CHELSEA, LONDON: Ahead of the film’s 20th anniversary, the cast of ‘Love Actually’ got together to reminisce about old times.

Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, Bill Nighy, Laura Linney, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Olivia Olson, and more revisited the 2003 movie in a new special hosted by Diane Sawyer and discussed how it became a worldwide phenomenon via Entertainment Tonight.

‘Love Actually’ is a loosely connected series of stories that follows the love lives of eight very different couples during the hectic month leading up to Christmas in London, England.

Hugh Grant revealed:

Hugh Grant revealed in the interview that he was not at all excited to film the now-viral dance scene from the movie.

I thought, “Well, I’ll hate doing that,” when I read it in the script. Grant admitted, “I didn’t even want to want to practise the dance.

Grant’s hesitation was confirmed by writer and director Richard Curtis, who told the host that Grant was “grumpy” but understood that it was a “contractual obligation.”

Curtis continued, “I believe he was hoping I would get hurt or become ill so we could say, “Oh, well, what a shame, we’ll have to lose that dancing sequence.”

Grant said it was his idea to have the prime minister’s secretary enter the room he was dancing in to end the scene because he was out of rhythm at the beginning, “especially at the beginning when I wiggle my a**.”

I’ll admit it: I came up with the brilliant idea to have the secretary lady catch me.

And to this day, many people including myself believe it to be the most agonising scene ever captured on film, but some people also like it.
