ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief and former prime minister Imran Khan has asserted that he never offered a lifetime extension to former army chief General (R) Qamar Javed Bajwa.

He said that the national economy was improving when he was in government, but unfortunately, he was ousted through a ‘conspiracy,’ a local TV reported.

Recalling his government’s performance, the PTI chairman claimed that the country’s growth rate was at 65 while information technology exports were on the rise.

Clarifying his position after continuous criticism from different circles, he said that it was a lie that he offered a lifetime extension to the ex-army chief. The former army chief Bajwa was the only man behind the conspiracy against the PTI government.

He further said that General Qamar Bajwa’s ‘plan’ was to weaken his party. He considered Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, a wise person.

Imran Khan said that he already knew that the former army chief had given an offer to the PML-N president.

Imran Khan said that he was aware of these “conspiracies” but still gave the benefit of the doubt to Bajwa.

Referring to elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, the PTI chairman said that his party disbanded the assemblies because the Constitution states that polls should be held within ninety days after the dissolution of the assembly.

He reiterated that the government was afraid of holding elections and could not defeat the ‘most popular party’ PTI, even with rigging.
