BENGALURU: The crucial cricket match between Pakistan and New Zealand in the World Cup has been disrupted by rain. Pakistan, chasing 402 runs, were 161 for one loss in 21 overs when rain interrupted the match.

Pakistan opener batsman Fakhar Zaman was at 106 runs, while Captain Babar Azam was at 47 when the rain halted the match in the mega tournament in Bengaluru.

Fakhar smashed 100 runs in 63 balls at a strike rate of 157.81.

Earlier, Babar Azam won the toss and invited New Zealand to bat first in the must-win game against the Black Caps.

New Zealand set a mammoth target of 402 runs for Pakistan in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 match being played at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium today.

Pakistan is also facing a challenge to stay alive in World Cup 2023, as in case of a defeat, the Men in Green would be straightaway out of the tournament.

The team made one change, inducting Hasan Ali to replace Usama Mir, while the Kiwis made three changes in the squad. Ish Sodhi, Mark Chapman, and Kane Williamson are playing today in place of James Neesham, Matt Henry, and Will Young.

The winner of today’s match will become a strong contender to qualify for the semi-final berth.
