ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday extended the protective bail of PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif till October 26 and issued notices to the parties on a petition seeking restoration of his appeals against his sentence in the Avenfield and Al-Azizia references.

Moments after appearing before the accountability court in Islamabad to secure bail in the Toshakhana reference, ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif went to the Islamabad High Court for hearing on a petition seeking restoration of his appeals against his sentence in the Al-Azizia and Avenfield references.

A division bench of the IHC, comprising Chief Justice Aamir Farooq and Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb, heard the petition.

The hearing of the case was adjourned till October 26. The court also instructed the PML-N lawyers to ask their client (Nawaz Sharif) to bring fewer people along. The court also issued notices to the NAB on Nawaz Sharif’s application to restore his appeals.

The NAB prosecutor told the court that Nawaz’s arrest was not required and also did not object to an extension in his protective bail.

Nawaz Sharif’s Appearance

PML-N President and former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif accompanied his brother to the court, while party leaders Khawaja Asif, Rana Tanveer, Khawaja Saad Rafique, and Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha were also present in the court. Outside, PML-N supporters raised slogans in favour of Nawaz Sharif.
